The Peace Room Project

"The Peace Room Project is a platform for spreading and encouraging peace, both within ourselves and in the world at large; a platform for engaging others to share and participate in their own journey of manifesting more peace and love in a world that seems to be very much in need of peaceful, wise, and loving ways of living and engaging in this precious life." ~ Adyashanti

Watch the following video ~ a dedication to the building of the Peace Room, and blessings and artwork contributed by Sangha members.

Once the actual Peace Room (our broadcast studio) was built and furnished, we realized your inspiration and ours had grown beyond what we had imagined. The Peace Room Project is a living movement towards peace as we come together to bring more peace into the world through our actions, and through sharing the work and teachings of Adyashanti and Mukti. We will build community through peace. The Peace Room is something that we want to engage you in. It is about a deeper sense of community, a deeper dedicaton to peace in all our interactions and in our world.

The Peace Room is a sense of making room for peace within yourself, and it is the sense of opening yourself up to possibilities in your life and relationships. This is what is at the heart of the Peace Room Project: making room for peace is making a commitment to growing a space for conscious relating in the world. It begins with yourself, and, in community, it is about consciously relating with one another.

The Peace Room Project is evolving from the simple and powerful commitment of individuals like you dedicating themselves to peace and a deep inquiry about what peace is. What does it mean to live peace on a day-to-day basis?

A Deeper Dedication to Peace

Adyashanti and Mukti gave their special broadcast on Wednesday, September 13, 2017 during which they dedicated the Peace Room as an expression of peace that goes beyond the physical dimensions of our new studio. (View an excerpt on the left.)

Through the Peace Room Project, Adyashanti and Mukti are committing to bringing forth teachings that take root in the deep commitment and dedication we can make to peace. Adyashanti and Mukti invite you to explore what it is to live from our heart, to live from a deeper realized state of being while we are fully engaged in living our lives. What is at the heart of this commitment to peace? Adyashanti and Mukti invite you to explore this commitment to peace in your own life. Engaging in a complex world is full of challenges. In day-to-day living we may encounter divergent points of view, suffering, sorrow, ignorance, greed, hatred, and disaster—and we can find ourselves in situations that may challenge us. Embodying peace in the moment is a beautiful, humbling and worthwhile endeavor requires insight, a lot of love, a lot of compassion, and a lot of forgiveness. The challenges we face in our interactions can be positive in that there is potential for authentic connection with another. Attuning to the potential for harmony, beauty, truth, joy, and fulfillment in a situation is possible. It is a choice we make every moment in day-to-day life, and every choice we make matters. Awakening to a deeper truth of our being, a deeper truth of life, we naturally recognize the power and effect of our choices, not just as an idea, but as the truth of being connected to all of life.

A Conscious Intention for Peace

Art by Jane Fisher

Attuning to peace can orient our entire life and existence.

With greater awareness, there is also a potential for greater engagement with everything all around us. When we value peace in all areas of life, peace becomes something that we can nurture potentially evey day and every moment. We can make a decision, no matter how small, to bring peace into an interaction, a conversation with someone else, into a situation or experience no matter how ordinary. It’s not always obvious what it means to translate deep and profound values and experiences of being into the nitty-gritty of worldly human life and existence. Attuning to peace can orient our entire life and existence.

We Celebrate 10 Years of Internet Broadcasting!

From December 22, 2016:

Since 2007 we have been broadcasting programs regularly, starting first with a “radio” audio-only format that was produced in a very small room and broadcast over the internet.

Over the years, we worked hard on improving the signal strength of the broadcasts to serve more people and improve the quality of the sound, and finally In July of 2009 we added the live streaming video that we enjoy today. What started as a wild idea of having a regular “call-in radio program” became a cornerstone of the programming brought to you by Open Gate Sangha. The monthly broadcasts are offered for FREE and have been for years. Free broadcasts are an ongoing goal of Open Gate Sangha and one of our proudest accomplishments. We have had as many as 105 countries represented in a single broadcast, but our reach isn’t really about the numbers. The grace of many people coming together to experience the teachings of Adyashanti and Mukti through these internet broadcasts has resulted in a special internet sangha quietly and powerfully dwelling together in the simple yet deep questions of spirit present in every broadcast. The broadcast programs provide a valid and very necessary spiritual support for thousands of people around the world.

Now, in 2017, we celebrate 10 years of broadcasts and invite you to join us in the celebrations. With the building of a new and bigger studio, the Peace Room, our dream is to offer more programming opportunities, upgrade equipment to record and produce video and audio, and to explore new possibilities for the broadcasts. It is our hope to bring more peace into the world through the teachings and broadcasts, and it’s truly inspiring to think we can all join in together to do this as a community. Your participation, good thoughts, and contributions make a big difference, and of course, we love the encouragement.

Donations from the Sangha

From December 30, 2016:

In this spirit, we invite you to be part of this celebration and ask that you make a donation of any amount to show that you value the broadcasts and to let us know you want to be a part of this “next era” of broadcasts. Imagine what we can build together as a community of spirit!

With a contribution of any amount, you can help us tremendously. We would like to encourage everyone to give only what feels comfortable. Letting us know you are interested in being a part of this project matters a lot to us. It is our sincere hope that with just a little bit of help from everyone, we can build a larger studio, and we can finally afford the new studio equipment that is on our wish list. All donations are welcome. The spirit of the gift will live on in every broadcast to come.

Our Shared Dream of Peace

From January 12, 2017:

Thank you, thank you, thank you! Thanks to you, the Peace Room dream is becoming a reality!

We have received an amazing response from you about the Peace Room. In fact, we have been humbled by the many donations of different amounts coming from the community, each one a gift from the heart. Many people in our community responded and let us know that the broadcasts matter and that the Peace Room is a dream that can come true. We are feeling uplifted by your extraordinary generosity of spirit. In this coming together of community, we feel extremely grateful for your kindhearted support.

Building the Peace Room Together

. . . January 12, 2017:

We also received several offers for help from studio/sound professionals. Two of our sangha members, each with lots of experience building studios, have looked at our Peace Room plans and offered feedback. We had a little ceremony to bless the space with music and prayers, so that we could focus the energies of this project into a clear intention for peace in the creation, the building, and in the final use and purpose of the new studio. We started calling the new studio “The Peace Room” to focus the intention of the project as well. We are very excited about it!

Every contributor to the Peace Room is part of the possibilities such a new studio offers us.

The final design plans are being put together, and while there are a few more details to work out with contractors, builders, and electricians—one thing is clear: we are moving forward!

Angel

From January 30, 2017:

There have been many contributions to the Peace Room so far, many in the form of generous and heartfelt donations, and others in the form of letters, blessings, and prayers. Each one is a contribution of peace, and a choice to support peace in the world. Thank you!

The outpouring of love and encouragement has been humbling and inspiring!

An Invitation to Build Community

. . . January 30, 2017:

Moving forward together on this project with the community, we have received a beautiful and inspiring idea from a sangha member—we would like to incorporate the blessings and prayer messages from the community into the Peace Room.

You are invited to be a part of this! Send us your thoughts, reflections, prayer messages, and blessings for the Peace Room and for all the future broadcasts that will take place in the Peace Room. Each “blessing” will become a vital part of The Peace Room Book, and this special book will have a prominent place in the Peace Room forever!

Accept this Invitation in Several Ways : Write to us and send pictures, small works of two-dimensional art, and letters to: Open Gate Sangha, Inc., Peace Room Project, P.O. Box 112107, Campbell, CA 95011. You can also send your thoughts and prayers (please do not include attachments) to us via email at: peaceroom@adyashanti.org

Transition from Old to New

From February 28, 2017

We have begun construction!

The construction of the new Peace Room studio is a process that involves many steps that will take time. The first internet broadcasts that take place in the Peace Room are planned for later this year. Until then, we will be broadcasting from the current studio.

The current studio will be quite busy in the near future, and we are reminded that this one small space has served its purpose throughout 10+ years of broadcasting.
